Summer Road Map - Part Four
Right Winger
Here are our targets for the right wing, given that our pecking order puts these players lower down the list in the squad, you can see that reflected in who we target. Add in depth, ability to compete but not the expectation to play every game. A player that in two to three years we can be blown away by, until then can work through the squad.
1 - Jack Grealish, Bernardo Silva & Jeremy Doku
2 - Oscar Bobb & [Insert Chosen Transfer Target]
Right Wing Targets
Included below is a comparison between our targets and Jeremy Doku, who has been unbelievable since he arrived and so a good use of the standard we desire. His profile as well is away from that of Jack Grealish or Bernardo Silva, we are looking for another player like Doku who provides a significant threat in wide positions but will be behind in the pecking order to those three.
Main Takeaways
All the players have a high volume of touches and recover the ball similarly.
Roony Bardghji stands out for not loosing possession near as much as the rest. Also leading the way on shot accuracy.
Pedro the only player ahead of Doku with Assists per 90 and just behind him with chances created.
All players very similar level of pass completion. Doku far ahead when it comes to long passes, have seen that cross field pass a lot in his time already.
Pedro Neto and Williams stand out for the volume of crosses attempted along with accuracy. Roony providing 52% on the latter.
Only Nico Williams similar to Doku on through balls attempted.
None of the players are comparable to Doku when it comes to take on ability and duel success.
Targets
Savio is Girona FC electrifying winger that has been having an incredible season, part of his teams push for the La Liga title. No player in La Liga has completed more dribbles (98) or won more attacking duels (128). That is the perfect mix we are looking for in a winger, direct and elusive.
Able to cut in from either side, attack the byline and cause chaos for any opposition full back. A promising future lays ahead and with him being part of the CFG, a move to the Etihad would make a lot of sense.
Pedro Neto has been sensational for Wolves in the premier league, he has seven assists in eleven starts. He has the explosive burst to beat a player out wide, can drive the ball forward with his carrying strengths works hard to get into free space.
A player that can create chances from either wing and thrive as the facilitator would only be a benefit to the team, more so when you factor in his hardworking nature pressuring opponents from the front. With him just coming back from injury there will be eager eyes to watch his performances.
Nico Williams has continued on from his breakout season in 22/23, with 3 goals and 5 assists in the league already. He ranks third in Europe’s top five leagues for most take-ons completed (110), only behind Jeremy Doku (133) and Leroy Sane (114).
At 21 he is at the age to develop at Manchester City and follow the path Doku is on this season. Giving the team the ability on both sides to take on their full backs. Exceptional dribbling and control in tight spaces and a remarkable tactical awareness at his age. Deep understanding of plays and reading the game to make smart decisions.
Roony Bardghji is in the middle of a breakout season for FC Copenhagen and will arrive at the Etihad for a champions league game this year. Could he come permanently in the summer?
The ability in the future to develop as a right winger, striker and attacking midfielder. All the traits of a classic winger with explosive pace and exceptional dribbling abilities. Roony also has an eye for goal, registering 7 goals and 5 assists in the last 16 games.
Can expect him to be watched closely in February when Copenhagen play against Manchester City in the champions league. Oh and he scored a winner against Man Utd, what more do you want…

Other Options
Depending on midfielder additions, City could decide to leave the winger options between Grealish, Bernardo and Doku. Using other players to fill those spots in the event of an injury.
By the end of the season, Oscar Bobb could be viewed as our long term right winger option with Bernardo Silva.
With the desire to push Phil Foden into midfield and the increasing volume of games, we think it is important for this City side to stock up on another talented winger who can develop in these coming years whilst contributing minutes in the 24/25 season.
Let us know what you think and if there are targets we missed!
